Cleaning and washing pleated blinds
General information
Improper cleaning of the pleated fabrics may cause the total or partial loss of properties provided by special coatings or laminations. Notably flame retardant properties may be affected. Wear-marks may also occur earlier through improper cleaning. Avoid contact between the pleated blind and any detergent when cleaning the windows. There is no warranty on damage to the fabric caused by detergents, condensation or insect soiling.
Brush down dry
Remove dust using a soft, dry brush or the upholstery nozzle of your vacuum cleaner.
Damp wipe
Lighter stains can be removed with a damp cloth. Moisten a soft cloth in a thin solution of water and a mild detergent. Gently wipe the stain off, do not rub. Do not soak the fabric. Do not use any solvents.
Washable / Washing instructions
Pleated blinds fabrics that are marked as “washable” can be swayed in a warm (about 30°C) solution of mild detergent. To do so, remove the pleated blind from the window and bathe it in a mild solution in an adequately large basin. Rinse thoroughly afterwards. Finally, slightly press the folded blind to remove excess water. The pleated blind should be dry enough to not drip anymore before it is (still damp) reinstalled on the window. There it should dry closed. Open and close the blind from time to time to keep the pleats from sticking together. Do not iron.
