Pleated and honeycomb blinds

The simple elegance and functionality of pleated and honeycomb blinds make them suitable for a range of applications and purposes:

Good protection against the heat of the sun can be achieved with both pleated and honeycomb blinds. Several of the fabrics available here have a reflective coating on the reverse side, reducing the heat energy transmitted through fabric and into a room.

Pleated and honeycomb blinds are both available in various darkening and privacy options. Optically, they are very similar once installed. While the range of fabrics for pleated blinds is more extensive, honeycomb blinds have offer two advantages over simple pleated blinds:

• Better insulation properties
• Better room darkening properties.

As windows are often weak points with respect to insulation, honeycomb blinds are optimally suited to slowing down the heat exchange that occurs through windows. They are constructed of two pleated fabric layers with insulating air spaces in between. Heat loss via windows can be reduced by up to 46% using honeycomb blinds, reducing heating costs in winter.

A honeycomb blind with a reflective coating reduces heat loss in winter and reflects sunlight before it is transformed to heat energy during summer.

Block out fabrics are available for both pleated and honeycomb blinds to achieve significant light reduction in rooms. However, tiny holes to guide tension cords through the fabric will still allow light to pass through in pleated blinds. As the tension cords for honeycomb blinds run along the inside of the double-layered fabric in honeycomb blinds, more complete darkening can be achieved.
